HOUSTON, TX – If you love cars, you may want to drive into the Mecum Auctions at Reliant Stadium this weekend.

“This is more than an auction, this is an experience,” says Sam Murtaugh, Marketing Director for Mecum.

1,000 cars will be offered at the event. Two of them were owned by former NASA astronauts.

Gus Grissom bought his 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible just before he died. Grissom was killed during a pre-launch test before Apollo 1.

Another car once owned by another famed astronaut, Alan Shepard, is on the block too.
