GEORGETOWN, Tx. --  When it comes to inspirational sport speeches, what comes to mind? Perhaps a scene out of a movie, or maybe the classic speech given by New York Yankee Lou Gehrig.

Well, now you can add another one to the list.

“At first, we started slow, we started real slow. And you know that’s all right, that’s okay, because sometimes in life, you’re gonna start slow, that’s okay.”

Apollos Hester is a running back for East View High School in Georgetown. His team managed rally from behind to pull off a victory, but perhaps the biggest win is his winning attitude.

“No matter what the score was, we’re gonna finish hard, we’re gonna finish fast. Yeah, they had us the first half, I’m not going to lie. They had us. They had us. We were undefeated, but they had us. But it took guts, it took an attitude. That’s all it takes. That’s all it takes to be successful is an attitude! And that’s what our coach told us. He said, he said, 'Hey, it’s gonna be tough. It’s gonna be hard. You’re going to go out there, you’re going to battle, you’re going to fight, you’re going to do it for one another. Do it for each other. You’re going to do it for yourself, you’re going to do it for us, and you’re going to come out with this win.’ And we believed that, we truly did.”

How’s that for motivation? Hester’s spirited speech went viral, racking up over 1.5-million views already. Looks like this kid’s future is as promising as his perspective.
