HIGHLANDS, TX - Here's some bone-chilling news that could leave you shivering.
A 14-year-old girl was shot in the face Saturday night while eating a snow cone with her family in the Highlands area of east Harris county.
Harris County Sheriff deputies say around 8:45 p.m., a Hispanic man pulled up at a snow cone stand on North Main near College Street, got out, then walked over to the family and fired at least three shots.
"One of the rounds struck the 14-year-old female in the eye. She was shortly after Life-Flighted to Hermann Memorial," said Sgt. Cedrick Collier.
The girl was in serious but stable condition. Police say the suspect yelled obscenities before he left in a dark-colored pickup truck.
He's still on the loose, and is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon. No word if he knew the family, or if the girl was targeted.
Sadly, a night out with the family ends in a cold-blooded attack.
