HOUSTON – Southeast Texas got hammered by huge downpour over Sunday night and early Monday morning as some areas saw over 15 inches of rain fall. All that water is causing floods as the bayous are being overrun by the water. Several roads are shut down including 290 and I-45 north and the Beltway 8 North near Hardy toll road.
Some neighbors are under water and people are encouraged to stay home as most schools closed because of today’s inclement weather.
Houstonians are advised to stay in and not to test the waters on the roadways. Don’t drown, turn around.
In the video above, Mayor Sylvester Turner discusses the latest in regards to this latest round of flooding. Last year, southwest Houston experienced heavy flooding with the Memorial Day storms, but this storm system has had a wider affect.
Thus far officials have confirmed that there have been two fatalities that have been associated with the flooding.
