HOUSTON, TX – There are lots of events planned this Fourth of July weekend. Here’s a look at a few highlights:

Glory Fitness Spin-a-Thon
A huge fundraiser is underway this weekend to benefit the Houston Food Bank and Boykins Youth Foundations — and anyone can help! Hop on a bike during the 24-hour Glory Fitness Spin-a-Thon. It’s free to participate. Riders started pedaling at 5 a.m. Friday and will continue until 5 p.m. Saturday.

Chicago Fire vs. Houston Dynamo
The Chicago Fire travel to BBVA Compass Stadium on Friday night to take on the Houston Dynamo. Fun fact: the Fire have never won here. See if the Dynamo can keep that streak alive when the game kicks off at 8 p.m.

Freedom over Texas Celebration
Josh Turner, Clint Black and a huge fireworks spectacular: the Freedom over Texas Celebration promises an action-packed day. The event runs from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Eleanor Tinsley Park on Buffalo Bayou. Tickets are $8 in advance (purchased up until Friday night) or $10 at the gate.

Garth Brooks in concert
This weekend is your last chance to see Garth Brooks in concert. He’s playing four more shows — two Friday and two Saturday — after blowing away fans last weekend. This is the country megastar’s first visit to Houston in 17 years.

It wouldn’t be the Fourth of July without local parades:
9 a.m. – The Woodlands
9:30 a.m. – Bellaire
10 a.m. – La Porte
11 a.m. – Richmond
7 p.m. – Stafford
7:46 p.m. – Galveston

Pints and Pals
The Fourth of July can sometimes be scary for dogs because of the fireworks, but this Fourth could land some pups a new home. No Label Brewing in Katy is hosting the Pints and Pals event on Saturday from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. You’ll be able to meet some of the adoptable pups from Special Pals while enjoying locally brewed beer.
