HOUSTON, TX — In a season full of barbeques and tailgating, a Rice University graduate has created a different and eco-friendly way to cook outside.
Bodin Hon’s has created the Solari, an outdoor solar cooker.
Hon said, “This is a non-hands-on process. You just leave it out in the sun and let it cook, unlike barbeques where you have to manage and not overcook items. By taking something that everyone loves to do like slow cooking with crock pots and taking it outside we can make a gradual change.”
We don’t expect anyone to throw their grills away immediately, but the Solari seems easy enough to use. The food may take longer to cook but it may be worth it to those who don’t want to pollute the air.
