HOUSTON, TX – It’s not unusual for a student to hire a classmate to do a little work on the side — maybe some tutoring or even writing a few papers.

Killing a classmate’s mother?  That’s a different story.

A former Lee High School student is in jail for accepting $4000 to kill the mother of a classmate.

Nur Mohamed pleaded guilty to stabbing his friend’s mom back in November 2009. The classmate who hired him, Danish Minhas, was class president and an honor roll student.

The motive? Well, like a lot of parents, his mom could be a little strict. Authorities say Minhas just couldn’t take her rules anymore, so he hired a hit man.

Now it’s time for Mohamed to pay for his crime. Harris County judge Jim Wallace sentenced him to 40 years in prison.

Looks like Mr. Mohamed won’t be seeing the light of day for a very long time, proving what most of us already know — murder for hire doesn’t pay.
