HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Police Department Training Division hosted an educational session for Houston City Council members and civic leaders on Friday. The “Shoot, Don’t Shoot” demonstration showed off critical decision training the police use.

“Shoot don’t shoot is really a decision-making process,” the captain of the training division, Jennifer Evans, said. “It’s when you go up to a situation, and you don’t really know what’s going. You have to make a decision to draw your weapon and shoot or not to. It’s not as easy at it looks on television.”

In addition to running through scenarios where policemen are called to a scene, officers taught lessons on how to use tasers and batons.
