HOUSTON – Protesters at city hall are accusing Mayor Sylvester Turner of violating free speech by pulling a controversial documentary from a local film fest.

The documentary Vaxxed: From Cover Up to Catastrophe claims the Center for Disease Control covered up study results that linked vaccinations to autism.

“They covered up that data, changed study protocols and the study that they published was used to throw out thousands of cases in vaccine court,” says vaccine safety advocate Leslie Phillips.

It was scheduled to screen this week at the WorldFest Houston film festival.

Mayor Turner’s office says it’s pulling the doc because the festival is partly funded through a city grant, and the film counters the city’s efforts to ensure children receive vaccinations.
