Police officers are sworn to serve and protect and that’s what one Houston police officer did when he shot a man who was attacking a woman.

It happened at this plaza strip center on Bellfort near Gessner.

Police say they saw the man, 34-year-old Dhafir Rasheed, sitting in a car, holding a 34-year-old woman by the neck with one hand and stabbing her with the other.

Fearing for the woman’s life, Officer G. Potter opened fire on Rasheed, sending him to the hospital.

He’s expected to survive and will face charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police say the woman is also expected to survive.

At least there’s some good news in this otherwise horrible situation.
