The victim of the highly publicized gang rape in India has died. All we know about her is she was just 23-years-old and brutally attacked on a bus by possibly six men.

New Delhi authorities said one of them was the bus driver.  Another was a minor. The woman was assaulted so badly, doctors said she suffered severe organ failure.

Now, people across India are taking to the streets to make sure her death wasn’t in vain.

They have been protesting for days, demanding more protection for women and actual punishment for assailants. Since her death, the protests have escalated.

And so have the charges.

The six suspects face murder in addition to rape charges. Who knows if this will conjure any kind of legislative reform.

If nothing else, let this be a deterrent for any other sickos who feel like attacking innocent women.
