WASHINGTON, DC – It’s been nearly thirty years since First Lady Nancy Reagan launched her “Just Say No” campaign against drugs.
But now in an act of irony, Washington, DC’s mayor and city council have defied an act of Congress, and turned Washington, DC, into Weedington, DC.
Two Republican’s on the DC Oversight Committee, Jason Chaffetz of Utah and Mark Meadows of North Carolina, said DC’s mayor Muriel Bowser could go to jail. They even sent her a letter saying, “If you decide to move forward (Thursday) with the legislation of marijuana in the District, you’ll be doing so in knowing and willful violation of the law.”
Bowser told reporters “”Bullying the District of Columbia is not what his constituents expect nor do ours.”
The new ordinance says people 21 years old or older can have no more than two ounces of weed on private property. And, it can’t be bought or sold, unlike some politicians.
President Obama doesn’t blow any smoke when it comes to talking about his pot use, and now that pot use is legal in Washington, members of Congress may have a good excuse for some of the dopey things they do.
