HOUSTON, TX – Bigger is better. That’s why we live in Texas!

The nation’s housing market seems to be catching on to that trend too, because the last few months of 2012 showed a huge jump in luxury home sales.

This may or may not apply to you, but we all like to dream of those oversized-lots, wine cellars, three car garages and a butler waiting to greet us at the door.

Apparently, the spike comes from high-end homeowners rushing to take advantage of the lower tax rate before January 1st. So, lots of sellers wanted to cash in on their costly-casas before the capital gains hike, that was part of the fiscal cliff budget deal, became official.

So, that’s great news. Good for the economy, good for the housing market, and good for those home owners.

For those of us living on a budget, in a cramped one bedroom apartment, we can’t help but to feel like Dr. Seuss’ poor Yertle the Turtle who famously said, “I know up on top you are seeing great sights, but down at the bottom, we too should have rights!”

We’re really just concerned about the right to be rich!
