KATY, TX – Ever wish someone would take one of those kid’s arcade restaurants and turn it into the kind of place where adults can play too?
Well, wish granted.
Welcome to Main Event, and their newest location in Katy.
“You know what, we just like to have an outlet for the mom, for the dad and also for the kids,” says Main Event Spokesperson Amy Johnson.
It has everything you’d expect, games, TV’s, a place to chill, but Chew on This: sometimes in life you have to try things over and over again.
That’s the lesson chef Chuck Lopez learned: that sometimes it takes time to get it right.
“The passion goes a long way in this business,’ Lopez says. ‘I’ve been in this business 29 years, variety of different concepts. I really love main event, it brings out the kid in me.”
Chef Chuck doesn’t mess around when it comes to big flavor, and when you’re mixing meats in Texas, you’ve got to know the ropes.
“The cowboy burger it’s an 80/20 blend,’ Chef Chuck says. ‘It’s a 5.3 ounce burger patty. We season it and we put barbecue sauce on it once it’s pretty much done. We put apple wood-smoked bacon, cheddar cheese and then on a Kaiser roll.”
And Lopez hopes he’s on a roll. Main event is a concept that’s nothing to play around with – although here, you do need tokens – this is proof years of dedication can pay off.
“It makes my job a lot easier when I walk through the main event and touch some tables and see that they’re enjoying the food,” Lopez explains.
