BIRMINGHAM, UK – A quick update on Malala Yousufzai, the 15-year-old Pakistani blogger who survived the Taliban’s assassination attempt in October. She has a new (and hopefully safer) place to call home.
The Pakistani consulate in Birmingham, England has offered Malala’s father a job. The family is already in Birmingham, where Malala is receiving medical care. However, the job offer means Malala and her family will call Britain home for a least the next year, instead of having to pack up when their tourist visas expire this March.
Odds are her father will work as either a counselor or an administrative assistant.
Meanwhile, Malala is making a slow-and-steady recovery after doctors removed a bullet from her spine.
The move to England is a smart one, especially considering the Taliban vowed to finish the job if you know what we mean.
