HOUSTON — A night of drinking ended with a machete attack Sunday  at a flea market in the Greenspoint area, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

A group of friends were drinking after hours at the Sunny Flea Market near Airline when a groundskeeper told them to leave, investigators said. One man told the worker they would leave in a few minutes and that's when deputies said the groundskeeper pulled out a machete and attacked them.

Officers said the worker slashed the man on the arms and face. The same victim called deputies and was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

When officers arrived, they knocked on the groundskeepers door but he was already long gone.

Investigator said they have a first name and are speaking with several witnesses.
