BAYTOWN, TX — After more than two weeks of searching, it ends with a tragic find for two Baytown families. The bodies of Jarvis Morgan. 17, and Alex Chavez, 18, were found Thursday 30 miles away from Baytown in Anahuac. The teen’s families, volunteers, and Texas Equusearch, combed through Baytown and even used sonar and drones looking for clues.

But ultimately word of mouth is what led police to the discovery of the bodies in a Anahuac bayou. Police believe Morgan and Chavez were killed somewhere else and brought to Anahuac. A coroner is working to determine the exact causes of death. Who is responsible, is next on the agenda for police.

For days, Baytown authorities have wanted to talk to 20-year-old Brandon Flores. He has been charged with capital murder. In a disturbing twist, community activist Quanell X claims he received tips early on that Flores was responsible for the murders but when he relayed that information to police it fell on deaf hears. Quanell, also, believes he may have even found the crime scene where the murders took place. Again, he received the information through tips.

Baytown police admit they did speak with Flores early on in the investigation but at the time they were treating the situation as a missing persons case, not a crime. Police are also looking for Jose Juan Chavez. Chavez (not related to Alex Chavez) has not been charged but is believed to have been one of the last people to see the teens alive.

The investigation is ongoing and all leads are being investigated. Authorities are asking if anyone has information in this case, then they are encouraged to call the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 209-267-2500.
