HARLINGEN, TX – For a short time, there was a hungry monkey on the loose in Harlingen, Texas. One person even took some cell phone video of the munching monkey after it broke into her house and started eating whatever it could find.

Andy Silva was one of three individuals bitten trying to catch the monkey after it escaped. "Yeah, in my finger and I got a little bit clashed up, but it’s not much. It's all right."

Animal control captured the monkey, but not before an 84-year-old woman went to the hospital with monkey bites.

Police say the monkey was a pet living in a cage in the backyard.

“I guess it got away from the owners and I guess it wasn't properly put away, so you know,” Silva said.

And, in case anyone asks, Texas lets some humans own certain kinds of monkeys.
