Houston – It’s a parent’s worst nightmare, and now a Houston family is living it.

They took their four-year-old daughter named Nevaeh to the dentist for a simple check-up and routine dental work.

But something went horribly wrong.

Family attorney Jim Moriarty alleged “I can tell you that this chart shows that this child was essentially tortured.”

Courissa Clark, Nevaeh’s mom,  recalled the ordeal. “A little bit into the procedure we heard her crying.”

Clark says something caused Nevaeh to start shaking like she was having a seizure. “They told us that something was wrong, but they did assure us that everything was going to be okay,” Clark recalled.

At that point, Clark says she was forced into a waiting room with the door locked to prevent her from checking on her daughter.

“The doctor saw the child in convulsions at Noon,” Moriarty insisted. “911 wasn’t called until close to 4 o’clock.”

When Nevaeh got to the hospital “she was close to death….all of her vital signs were either too high or too low,” Clark said. Then tests showed little Nevaeh had suffered much worse than a seizure.

“This child suffered massive brain damage during that time period, and that didn’t have to happen,” Moriarty asserted.

The child resumed consciousness, but now she does not speak or respond to her parents. “In essence what happened is this child was chemically and physically suffocated,” Moriarty said.

Her mom says Nevaeh suffers constant muscle spasms and spends a lot of time crying in her hospital bed.

Clark also claims the dentist’s restraint device- a technique called “papoosing”- was more like something a mental patient would receive.

News Fix called the dentist’s office, but no one answered.

Meanwhile, Clark waits… and watches her child. “They’re not expecting her to do….to make too much of a recovery from where she’s at now.”

Nevaeh is heaven spelled backwards, and now this little girl needs a miracle if she will ever recover from this tragedy.
