HOUSTON, Texas - When you think of a New Yorker, you might think pushy, brash or even rude. But what makes a Houstonian? It's never been quite so easy to pin down until, now.
Houstonia magazine has put together a must-do list for every Houstonian. "If you were from Mars and you came to Houston and you wanted, for whatever reason, to become a Houstonian as fast as possible, these are the things that you would do," explains the magazine's editor-in-chief Scott Vogel. "These are the experiences you would have."
But it's not just for Martians or other newcomers. It's for hometown folks, too.
The list includes things like crashing a high school homecoming, surviving a chili cookoff and rolling down the hill in Hermann Park. But it also includes some more serious suggestions like being more political. "Only 10.5% of all the people eligible to vote in the last election actually voted," explains Vogel, "but in order to take this place to the next level, we think that that's important."
