DENVER, CO - In the midwest, hundreds of children are hospitalized with similar respiratory symptoms like a cold, but worse. in the last few weeks, 900 cases are reported.

It was frightening for 13 year old Will Carnejo and his family. "He was white as a ghost, blue lips. He just passed out. Had his eyes rolled back in his head, had to call 9-1-1, " said  Jennifer Cornejo, Will's mother.

Matt Cornejo, Will's father added, "To go from a cold to you know, minutes away from death is kind of scary. "

Will remains in a Denver hospital, where he`s not the only one with what is probably Enterovirus-68 which makes breathing a challenge. Kids younger than 5 and those with ashtma are most at risk.

In Kansas City, up to 30 children a day are seeking care at one hospital and 15 percent of those are ordered to intensive care. Pointing to a possible regional outbreak, Colorado, Illinois and Ohio are all reporting similar cases.
