HOUSTON, TX - The fabric of America, has just become stronger. 73 people, representing 30 different countries from around the world, gathered together to become United State Citizens. This Naturalization Ceremony was hosted by the Houston Public Library and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. While most naturalization events usher in a few thousand new Americans at once, this ceremony with just over 70 hopefuls, was more intimate.

This event marks the first time a Naturalization Ceremony was held outside of the USCIS' scheduled ceremonies in Houston. After a Color Guard presentation, the 73 gathered swore the oath of American Citizenship. Just like that, in the wake of tremendous international tension, our nation grew.

For some, the American dream means having a big home or fancy car. For these folks, they're happy just to be called American.
