HOUSTON- For years we’ve been told “8 is enough” when it comes to sleep.
New research from Arizona State University says 7 is now the optimal number. Sleep scientists say 7 hours of sleep is enough to refresh the cognitive functions in your “coconut” and keep you from being a psycho co-worker but anything less than 7 hours (even 20 minutes) can impair your memory and make you feel groggy and sluggish.
The folks we talked to aren’t going to “lose sleep” over this study though. Karen says, “I will not change for a study. I believe in listening to your body and what it needs.” Debbie felt similarly, “I’m going to do what feels good to me.”
“I think I’m going to stick to 8 and sometimes I like to get a nap during the day” said Jamail Spicer.
