Did you ever go to summer camp as a kid? I did sleepaway camp for a couple of summers and, I have to say, I long for the days spent making crafts and swimming in the lake. These days it’s all work, work, work. No summer break, no spring break. Heck, even getting holidays off is a luxury.
Well, have I got news for you. Adult summer camps are a thing and every one is a little different.
East Coasters, spend a long weekend doing water sports, participating in a talent show or having dance parties at Camp No Counselors in Albany, New York. It includes co-ed cabins and lots of alcohol.
If you’re on the West Coast, look up Camp Grounded in Mendocino, California. It’s all about the outdoors with activities like archery, learning survival skills and stargazing.
How about a “build-your-own” summer camp? At Camp Wandawega in Wisconsin, you can rent cabins and spend your time there however you want. Extra points to this camp for offering a “Manifesto of Low Expectations” that includes an application quiz with questions about things like your reaction to spiders.
If you want the camp feeling without roughing it, Shelter Co. offers what it bills as “a luxury lodging experience.” It isn't cheap, though; tents start at $750 and come with a full bed and mattress, 400 thread count sheets, a down comforter and lounge seating.
The creme de la creme: Adult Space Camp. No further explanation needed.
There are actually about *800* different grown-up camp options for you to choose from this summer. So if your inner child is begging to be let out this summer, you have plenty of options. The only thing I want to know is who’s bringing the S'mores?
