JAPAN - A Japanese artist, who is open about being inspired by her own vagina, is on trial this week for charges of distribution of obscene materials.

Visit Megumi Igarashi's Twitter profile, you'd notice it has a theme. For example, her "About me" section reads "The primary motif of my work is my own 'manko' (vagina)" and her feed is full of pictures of vagina-shaped toys, designs and even food.

The charges are linked to Igarashi's successful efforts to build a boat modeled after her vagina. (If you watch the video above, you can see part of the process.) While launching her CampFire campaign, she uploaded computer code that would allow other people to use a 3D printer and make their own copy of her vagina. That, according to Japanese authorities, qualifies as distributing obscene materials.

Igarashi's attorney says he's confident she will be found not guilty.
