Pearland mother arrested on Mother’s Day, accused of drowning her twin daughters

ANGLETON, TX – A Pearland mother is behind bars, arrested on Mother’s Day on charges of drowning her twin toddlers.
A Brazoria County grand jury indicted 21-year-old Barbara Ramirez-Sifuentes last week on two counts of manslaughter.
She called Pearland police on Feb. 17 saying she found her 15-month-old daughters, Savanna and Sabrina Russo, unresponsive in a bathtub. Both girls went by life-flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital where one of the twins died a few hours later. Doctors removed her sister from life support after five days.
Shortly after the incident, Child Protective Services took Ramirez-Sifuentes’s three-year-old son and placed him with relatives.
The Harris County Medical Examiner determined both deaths were homicides.
Harris County Precinct 8 deputies arrested Remirez-Sifuentes Sunday after tracking her minivan as she drove on the Sam Houston Tollway.
She was freed from the Brazoria County Detention Center after posting a $100,000 bond for two tragic deaths that now may be a double murder.
