NEW YORK, NY – For many people, a long hot shower is part of their daily routine. But for those that bathe every single day, science is about to burst their soap-bubble. Researchers over at Columbia University are coming clean about daily showering, by saying this cleaning ritual is unnecessary and can also be unhealthy.
The university study says that taking just a couple of showers a week is enough to keep you hygienic. But more than two scrubbings weekly can strip away healthy oils and good bacteria, drying your skin and making you prone to infections. But even if it really isn’t necessary for many, soaking just feels good. So, if you’re going to shower everyday, scientists say to soap up the parts of your body that need it the most. Mainly your pits and your privates. And make sure you deal with the dryness afterward with some lotion.
So shower less, or scrub more efficiently. Either way you’ll be clean enough to be healthy, yet dirty enough to be happy. Everything else is a wash.
