HOUSTON – A local restaurant found itself in some controversy after a customer who was mistaken for an employee asked a breastfeeding mom to leave.

It started last week after the mother was confronted by another woman at the El Patio restaurant off Westheimer in west Houston.

The woman, who the mother thought was an employee, asked her to leave. The mom’s story was shared on social media which quickly went viral.

After investigating the incident, the restaurant determined that the woman was actually a customer and not an employee at El Patio.

To show its support for breastfeeding mothers, El Patio donated 20 percent of all its sales Sunday to the Mothers’ Milk Bank.
