HOUSTON, TX – Black Friday: Well, it’s actually on Thursday! You see many retailers are opening their doors on Thanksgiving Day. Yeah, you might just have gobble your turkey earlier in order to start the shopping frenzy.

Starting at 8pm on turkey day, the race is on at stores such as Target, Macy’s, J.C. Penney and Staples.

Jayson Matos, team leader at Target on San Felipe, explained, “We’re really excited to open at 8pm on Thursday this year, on Thanksgiving. So we’ve seen in previous years that we’ve had a great guest turnout but what we’ve seen last year is a lot of families. Making this a family tradition.”

Some see it as a great way to get some bargains, those great deals stores are offering to get shoppers in the doors. But many think it detracts from the spirit of the holiday.

So this year you have options, if you want to celebrate with family stay at home. For shopaholics, you can get your early start.

But is there any way to wait with the Christmas music, until at least after Thanksgiving has passed?
