HOUSTON, TX – Rice senior David Nichol knew a small dormitory room could be something so much bigger. All he needed was 13,000 plastic balls. The computer science major converted his dorm into a ball pit.
“For me, the best part is the people that come and visit me,” Nichol said.
Nichol and his friends play a variety of games with the balls, but the most popular one is still just throwing them at each other.
“It is as much fun as it looks,” Nichol said. “I have been known to have a book in here and try to read, but for the most part there’s much more work than play in here.”
He does most of his school work in the common room of the dorm.
Nichol graduates in May and plans to move to Portland shortly after to start a new job.
