HOUSTON, TX – Do not buy Girl Scout cookies; at least that’s what some Right-to-Lifers want and they’re now waging war against the Girl Scouts by instituting a cookie boycott. This “cookie-cott” is in response to the Girl Scouts endorsement of abortion and those who advocate it.
Now, don’t roll your eyes. The Girls Scouts say they don’t take stands on political issues or endorse politicians but opponent say some of their literature seems to contradict that.
For example, the link to a website that lists famous speeches by women including Margaret Sanger’s speech advocating birth control. Really? That’s not exactly “I have a dream” material.
Connie Chavez with the Girl Scouts says, “We think these topics are best left to families to discuss with their daughters. Our mission is to build girls of courage, confidence and character and that’s where our focus is and will remain.”
Ann Saladin is a self-described soccer mom from St. Louis and the third of four generations of Girl Scouts; but she removed her daughter in 2010 because she says, the Scouts words didn’t match their actions. She now documents her pro-life concerns with the Girl Scouts on her website MyGirlScoutCouncil.com.
If you agree with the St. Louis soccer mom, put your money where your mouth is and don’t buy Girl Scout cookies this year. If you agree with the Scouts, pig out! To make this simpler, it’s just cookies people!
