SAN DIEGO, CA - It could be bad news for football fans in California's second largest city. The San Diego chargers plan to file an application with the NFL to move the team to L.A.
Mark Fabiani, the head of the Chargers special counsel says the Rams and the Raiders are planning to do the same thing, and the Chargers can't afford to lose their fan base in L.A. Fabiani said that 25% of Chargers' season ticket holders come from the L.A. and Orange County market.
But some people speculate that the move is a bargaining chip to get the city of San Diego to pony up more money for a new stadium.
It is the eternal struggle between sports teams and municipal governments. But we think the people of Southern California can eventually work this out.
