EL PASO, Texas – The big question today is what caused a gunman to kill a doctor at the veterans clinic at Fort Bliss In El Paso, then kill himself.

Authorities have not released the names of the doctor or the suspected shooter during the first part of the FBI investigation.

The shooting took place shortly after three o’clock Tuesday afternoon, resulting in a lockdown of the William Beaumont Army Medical Center  next door to the VA clinic.

This is the same facility mentioned in an audit last June that found more than 300 veterans in El Paso waiting at least three months for their first VA appointments.

Mental health patients there had a 16-day wait period.

No doubt, investigators try to see if there is a link between the shooting and patient care at the facility.
