HOUSTON, TX – A Houston security guard was shot and killed this week, but his body wasn’t found for days.

Houston Police got a call about a man down around 7 p.m. Saturday. When officers got there, they discovered the man laying dead in the parking lot just east of NRG Stadium.

Investigators aren’t sure how long the victim had been there, but they estimate he was killed 24 to 48 hours before they found him. They hope a call on his cell phone will give them some leads.

“It looks like the phone was used. It’d be premature for me to say if he made the phone call or if someone else made the phone call or exactly what that phone call said. We’re still working all our leads to try to pinpoint a suspect,” said Sgt. Christopher Hassig.

Police say the security officer was a contract employee.
