HOUSTON – It was a sad day in Houston as friends and family gathered at Apostolic Tabernacle church to celebrate the life of five-year-old Kayiana Thomas and seven-year-old Araylon Thomas.  Back on August 14, their 30-year-old mother, Sheborah Thomas confessed to police that she drowned the two kids in a bath tub inside of their 3rd Ward home.  She also attempted to bury them in her backyard before stashing their bodies under a neighbor’s home.  The senseless murders shocked the entire community.

“I was very hurt.”  said family friend Susie Fletcher.

“It’s like they were one of my children.”

Thomas KidsTheir grandfather Donal Ray Woods was also in shock when he received the tragic news.

“You never think it could happen to you, until it happens to you.  And I never thought that it would happen to me.”

Today’s gathering included several friends and family members, including the kid’s fathered who stood in front of the two small, flower laced caskets.  He embraced his father as people spoke kind words about Kayiana and Araylon.

People are growing weary of the senseless violence.

“This world is getting worse.” says Fletcher.

“And it’s going to continue on until people come to the knowledge of God.”
