LIBERTY COUNTY, TEXAS – There was something strange in the skies over Liberty County, Texas on Saturday.

Police say they got a call from someone reporting a fireball in the sky. But this was no close encounter of the third kind. It was a sky lantern.

Sky lanterns are sort of like a mini-hot air balloon made of paper. Sky lanterns are a tradition with east Asian cultures. When lit in masses, they make for a breathtaking sight. When they’re not lit and in the sky, they look like a big deflated balloon.

So all you Agent Mulder and Scully fans, sorry to burst your bubble, but it looks like this x-files case is closed!
