UNIONTOWN, Oh. — You’d think a lesbian couple, in Uniontown, Ohio, would be happy with the fact that they got a healthy, beautiful baby girl (from the help of a sperm bank, of course). Unfortunately, it’s not so black and white.
Jennifer Cramblett filed a lawsuit against the Midwest Sperm Bank because she says the baby batter she was given was not quite as ‘midwestern’ as she and her partner were hoping for. Cramblett says she requested a donor with blonde hair, blue eyes, that resembled her partner Amanda.
That’s not what they got however, as the couple’s two-year-old daughter is obviously from an African-American donor. That’s created some mixed-emotions for the couple, and now they’re suing the sperm bank. Cramblett’s attorney says they’re asking for, “…compensation for my client and her family to receive the kind of counseling that they will need going forward, and also to relocate to an area that is more demographically in tune with their family.”
Demographically in tune? What is that supposed to mean?
Cramblett says she and her partner will love their daughter unconditionally. Part of unconditional love is acceptance, so perhaps it’s time the couple accepts their daughter exactly as she is.
