tornadoSMITH COUNTY, KS – Storm chasers shot this video in Smith County, Kansas, Monday.

They were inside a specialized tank-like machine called a “Tornado Intercept Vehicle.”

They say wind speeds were up to 170 miles per hour — strong enough to blow open a hatch and a door, and rip instruments off the roof.

But it stayed on the ground.

The National Weather Service received reports of 16 possible tornadoes in Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Colorado Monday.
