bulletHOUSTON, TX – A stray bullet hit a 10-year-old boy in southwest Houston. It happened overnight Monday at the Sunset Crossing Apartments near Beechnut and Wilcrest.

Houston Police say two shots were fired into a front window of a different apartment. The bullet went through the back wall, and into the boy’s apartment, hitting him.

“I was just sleeping. I mean, I heard some gunshots,’ says Tawanna Mitchell. ‘When everyone came outside, we didn’t see the persons who were shooting.”

The silver lining here is that the boy was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital and is expected to be okay.

Meanwhile, Houston Police say they’ve detained a man for questioning in connection with the shooting, though no arrests have been made.

They were shots in the dark that thankfully didn’t have a darker ending.
