Surveillance video shows officer punching man

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Ever have one of those days when you were in the right place, but it must have been the wrong time? A man in Jacksonville, Florida did after walking into a gas station in the middle of a drug bust.
Demarcus Brown says his dad was inside the convenience store buying a drink when police swarmed the store. When Brown went inside to check on his dad, the cops took him down! He and is lawyer says this is blatant police brutality.
“They get me on the ground and I’m in a choke hold,” said Brown. “I tell them, ‘I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe,’ and they don’t let up. Then another officer hit me in the ribs, then someone hit me in the head twice.”
Brown was charged with resisting an officer with violence and trespass.
“We can certainly look at this video and we can see there was no resisting an officer with violence and no trespass,” said Brown’s attorney, Rhonda Peoples-Water.
Officers on the scene say they told Brown not to go into the store. Another surveillance video shows an officer possibly saying something to Brown before he walks in. Jacksonville police say they’re reviewing the recordings.
This incident comes just weeks after a Jacksonville police officer was arrested and fired for punching a woman who was handcuffed. Seems like this long arm of the law — may need to unclench those fists!
