HOUSTON - A suspected car thief took a wrong turn, landing him behind bars.

Houston Police say they got a call from Deer Creek around midnight Thursday about a pursuit that was headed into Houston. HPD sent its helicopter up to help with the chase and tracked the minivan to near Cortlandt and Tidwell.

"The driver tried to take a shortcut through a parking lot, lost control and struck a vehicle parked in the parking lot of a convenience store," said HPD Lt. Larry Crowson.

After the crash, officers swooped in and arrested the suspect. They're still looking for a passenger he had with him who bailed during the chase.

As for the minivan, police say it looks like it was stolen out of Dayton.
