HOUSTON – A Houston teen battling a rare brain-eating amoeba has died.
14-year-old Michael Riley was fighting for his life at Texas Children’s Hospital for more than a week after coming in contact with a parasite while swimming at Sam Houston State Park.
Michael would have been a freshman at Cypresswood High School.
His family wrote a Facebook post saying that they will remember him by raising awareness about the disease that killed him.
