HOUSTON, TX – All those sexy people on TV got you feeling… inadequate? Well guess what, you’re not the only one watching. Your kids are too. And if there’s anything we’ve learned, it’s that teenage insecurities can be deadly.
According to a new report from the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, the number of teenagers using steroids has doubled in the last year. In 2013, only 5% of teens reported using HGH, or human growth hormone. This year, that number is up to 11%. And it’s not just boys, 9% of girls surveyed admitted to using HGH as well. And not necessarily for athletics, more kids are say they’re using steroids just to improve their looks.
The number of professional athletes getting busted or admitting to using steroids isn’t helping things either. But there’s another problem: the high cost and low availability of real HGH has led to a black market of fake drugs flooding the country. And it’s a good bet plenty of the teens who admitted to using the steroids had no idea what they were actually putting in their bodies.
The best thing you can do is pay attention.
