The Golden Globes, the SAG Awards and the Grammy’s, all big award shows that happen this time of year, but none of them hold a candle to the nation’s first weather museum’s “Weather Hero Awards”.  Weather Research Center President says “We’re honoring our 2013 weather heros for accomplishments that they did either in education or proving safety information.”

We caught up with one of the hero award honorees, Ken Carey, and found out what exactly this award means to him.  He said, “It’s really the culmination of a career which I’ve really been fortunate to be involved with, to be able to pass on my experience, my insights and share some tidbits of my career to these young men and women who I hope to be the future leaders and so being here accepting this award is just an honor.

Amongst the weather heros, Alamo, the weather predicting longhorn, making his “Texas sized” weather prediction.  He predicted six more months of winter by the way.

Congrats to all this year’s weather heros.  Keep up the good work!
