LONDON, ENGLAND – Just when you thought it was safe to go to the library, look up the word ‘bikers’ and see that they have long hair and wear dirty denims, comes word, so to speak, that the wordsmiths at the Online Oxford English Dictionary removed all references to long hair and jeans from its definition of bikers.
They also added some words, words like ‘thx’, not to be confused with the Lucasfilm sound system, but the twenty-first century form of the old-fashion, ‘thanks.’
Don’t mention it.
If you have room on your plate for more words, you might check out the American Heritage Dictionary of Idioms. To let the cat out of the bag is an idiom.
And no, the elephant in the room isn’t always a Republican.
