FAIRFAX, Va. – A tragic end to a life and career just beginning.

Newly-sworn in and ready for duty, 28-year old Virginia police officer Ashley Guindon was shot and killed on her first day at work.

Chief Steve Hudson, Prince William Co. Police Dept. said, “Prince William County Police Department is in very deep mourning over the loss of Officer Ashley Guindon.”

Officer Guindon was killed while responding to a domestic dispute. Two other officers were wounded. According to police the suspect, Ronald Hamilton, fired on them immediately as they approached the front door.

Hamilton is jailed without bond and faces capital and first degree murder charges. Sources say he also killed his wife in the violence.
