ALBUQUERQUE, Nm.- Two Albuquerque police officers have been charged with murder.

It’s been almost a year since a deadly encounter was captured on video, showing two Albuquerque cops shooting and killing a homeless man, 38 year old James Boyd.

You can see several heavily armed officers in a standoff with Boyd as he stood on a hillside where he was camping illegally.

Boyd was reportedly armed with knives and had a history of mental illness.

Seconds later, you can hear one officer encourage the other to fire.

Boyd was struck by live rounds, stun guns and bean-bag rounds; some of which were even fired as he lay on the ground saying he was unable to move.

As you can imagine, Boyd’s death prompted several large protests.

Now murder charges have been filed against two of the officers: Keith Sandy and Dominique Perez.
