HOUSTON, TX – An early morning commute turns airborne, and ends with a crash landing, then a treacherous rescue.
Shortly before 7 a.m., a van carrying 7 passengers hit a guardrail near I-45 and Calvacade, then crashed into White Oak Bayou.
The seven were injured and the van became partially submerged.
Houston Fire Department District Chief of Rescue, Robert Branch said, “We had 4 walking wounded, so obviously pretty minor injuries. We had 3 we back-boarded and used stokes baskets to get them out with and it looked like they had some lacerations to the head.”
The seven are trade workers on their way to a job site before the crash.
The Houston Fire Department had to bring out the ‘bigger stick’ to pull the van from the water.
While those inside are lucky they are alive.
