ROANOKE, VA – In that deadly live television slaying, she’s the one who lived. Vicki Garder, the woman who was being interviewed that fateful day in Virginia, is now sharing her story.
“Had I continued to stand there, I would not be here talking to you,” she told FOX News.
Gardner was shot, but she’s the sole survivor of the deadly encounter.
“The only thing I could think of was ‘play dead’ … because I felt as though he was going to shoot me in the head.”
WDBJ reporter Alison Parker and photographer Adam Ward were killed by the disgruntled former employee who later took his own life too.
“My heart just goes out to Alison and Adam—they were so young. Why save me and take them? But obviously there’s a purpose, and by golly, I will fulfill it.”
