Website claims to make divorce easier to understand and cheaper

HOUSTON, TX - Streamline the divorce process, by doing it online. New startup "SEPARATE.US" is promising to cut the confusion and cost of getting divorced, for a fraction of the price you might get with lawyers. Co-founder of "SEPARATE.US", Sandro Tuzzo says, "Today, connecting is easy. There's ton of software applications for that. But what if you need to disconnect."

Tuzzo pitched his product at the Techcrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco. The divorce attorney, turned internet publisher is saying his site can cut the costs of a common divorce from tens of thousands of dollars to about 1500 bucks, and with initial filing costs of $99. But can separation really be this simple? Attorney Rick Ramos doesn't think so. "That's a really difficult question. Most of the divorce cases are very complex. You have children. You have child support issues. You have heath insurance issues. You have division of property", says Ramos.

Divorce attorney's we spoke to say it's a good idea to make divorce law easier to understand, buy still really doubt "SEPARATE.US" could handle the complexities of most separations. Attorney Cheryl Diggs says, "I'm all for people having easier access to the court-house, cause I understand everybody can't afford a lawyer all the time. However, for $1500 there are lawyers that can get your divorce done, uncontested, possibly done for that amount."

The website is currently beta testing in California.
